The meeting wasn't about telling her. :-) Every single health care
professional that is involved in our family's care, is well aware that
I'm breastfeeding my toddler! After all, he does nurse quite often.
:-) My husband's psychiatric consultant was exceptionally pleased to
observe us nursing on last visit.

The meeting was about making it clear given the Health Visitor's remit
of being primarily focussed on my son's health and environment, that if
anyone else at the meeting suddenly commented on it (after all, I may
end up nursing him in the meeting) then it was her professional role to
squelch them there and then, and not mine as parent, to defend normal
and desired behaviour. All I was doing was making this clear up front,
and enabling her to take on board her own defence points. I've found
such a pro-active stance is required when dealing with anything to do
with medical and social services in the UK, and I was letting her know
any such comments were her problem, not mine, and giving her room to say
if she agreed. She agreed, and if there are any comments - she will
field them - hence us 'arming' her with all the answers she'd need for
the usual run of the mill grumbling nonsense you hear. (Bet you're all
hoping there will be now, so I can report back on how well she squashed
'em!)

So there was never any question of her not knowing I was still nursing.
Heaven forfend that I'd be that defensive. (This is not a criticism of
anyone who might feel that way themselves.) If any health personnell I
come into contact with can't cope with my normal nursing, they better
get out of my way, or find themselves officially complained upon.
Strangers when out shopping is one thing, but people _paid_ to work
towards good health for my son? You better believe they're going to
know I'm normal nursing, and the reasons for it.
