Jean says:
"At the hospital I worked at previously, the lactation consultant
was doing
an outpatient consult one day and the infant became limp and turned
blue in
the Mom's arms and the LC had to run the infant to the NICU. So I
make sure
my NRP certification is up to date."

If I remember it correctly (haven't had to do NRP since I became
totally LC and not functioning as RN) NRP goes beyond infant CPR and
most interventions beyond CPR require other equipment which I don't
think most LCs would have in their offices. Besides, not all of our
IBCLCs are also RNs and I think NRP isn't meant for "lay" (non MD or
RN) persons. Infant CPR is available for anyone who works with
infants and is also taught to parents.
