I imagine there were others on this list who were at the Hale/Hartmann
conference in Virginia recently, so they can add to this. But the
bombshell from Tom Hale was--he thinks there's a good possiblility that
there's no such thing as ductal yeast. To test his theory he bought some
pure candida albicans and injected it into a test tube of fresh
breastmilk, also applied it to breastmilk smeared on auger (sp?) in a
petri dish and only got 7 colonies of candida to grow in each one. He
thinks there's something in breastmilk that inhibits the growth of
candida. So what is it that causes moms to have radiating pain in their
breasts, etc? Dr. Hale thinks it could be something bacterial, like
staph. Why do gentian violet and Jack Newman's APNO seem to work? They
have anti-inflammatory properties also. We asked him what do we do now?
And he said he doesn't have the answer yet, but he's working on it.

Warmly,
