In your post to LactNet, you write:

"However, I do feel that we need to accept that in the vast majority of
cases formula feeds do NOT damage children."

Do you have ANY references to back up this statement? Even one? If so, I
would really like to see them, as I suspect everyone on LactNet would.

The reality is that we don't have any idea what percentage of children are
NOT damaged by formula/lack of breast milk. But I would suspect it is not
the 'vast majority' that you claim. Furthermore, the exact risk for any
particular child is completely unknown ahead of time.

I suspect you must be new to LactNet, Tony -- and you are most welcome --
but your approach is not only outdated ("Let's pussy-foot around the facts
so as not to make anyone feel guilty") but is paternalistic. This has been
discussed at great length on LactNet over the years. Parents deserve to
have accurate and complete information and the right to make choices for how
to feed their children, but claiming that formula doesn't harm most children
is not consistent with the research.
