I agree, Pamela. Breastfeeding is a robust process. It's not rocket 
science. Many different things work. That said, understanding how the 
process works is vital to helping moms most effectively, and positions 
that use gravity to 'press' baby to mom are generally more ergonomic for 
both mother and baby. I personally would classify sidelying on a soft 
surface as a gravity -assisted position because the mother's weight 
pushes down on the mattress, rolling the baby toward her.
