According to the gal who cuts my hair, women lose very little hair while
pregnant (the reasons she attributes to hormones, better diet). After birth,
the hair that would have fallen out in small amounts over a long period of
time comes out at once. It seems like a drastic amount but is actually no more
than usual. I guess someone at the beauty schools actually counts the hair.
I am sure there are exceptions, but most women are back to normal after a few
months. She hasn't seen any connection to breastfeeding but had no formal
studies to reference.
