The questions was:

Is a statement by Barbara = Walters really that important?

My thoughts on this are YES it is!  People like Barbara Walters are
well-known and respected - her OPINIONS count.  The fact that she is a well
known and well-respected WOMAN makes her comments even more important to the
females in our society.  She is a role model for many women, young and old
alike.  Role models like her are who help make our society what it is.  If
all of our well-respected role models routinely endorsed some behavior as
GREAT then our society would tend to 'go for it' because well known
so-and-so said it was great!  If all of our role models believed in and
advocated for breastfeeding, talking about how natural it is, how beautiful
it is and 'how wonderful it was to see that mommy nursing her baby right
next to me' and 'I felt so honored to have her feel so comfortable sitting
next to me and breastfeed' - wow!  I truly think it would make a big
difference.  

Sad, tho...isn't it, that these people's OPINIONS are actually so important
to our society...it is the facts that get lost and the opinions of those
without the experience of NORMAL infant and child feeding/nurturing become
what people listen to.

Just my thoughts....
