Subject: News From NABA

> I have some news that I thought would be of interest to the breastfeeding
community. The Ameda pump company has just?been acquired by Evenflo. As
Ameda is Code compliant and Evenflo is not, this presented a real problem. I
was pleasantly surprised to be contacted by Evenflo who asked for NABA's
feedback on how to become Code compliant! We talked of what the Code was
designed to do and how important it was for a bottle/nipple/pump company to
adhere to the Code's marketing guidelines. As a result Evenflo will
discontinue all bottle/nipple advertising directed to consumers, change the
packaging of their products to come into alignment with Code requirements,
and remove all bottle and nipple images and sales from their website. It
will probably take a few months for all of the packaging changes to be seen.

> Every once in awhile I feel that all of the work we do to improve Code
awareness and compliance is worth it, as?I am so used to citing Code
violations in our country report, "Still Selling Out Mothers and
Babies."?Wouldn't it be nice if?other companies followed this step. Any
questions just let me know.
