Recent posts make me think of the close-knit family that unites absolutely
against perceived threats from beyond the family, but squabbles like crazy
behind closed doors.

And I suppose within our own "bfing support person family", the reason for
most of the squabbles is just not quite understanding the other person.
(Where would sitcoms be without the tried and true mid-plot
misunderstanding?)

What do we need in order to understand the other people?  Information!  A
series of articles in JHL, one per general field or per entry avenue, would
be nice.  (Does everyone outside nursing *really* understand the difference
between an RN, a BSN, an MSN, an RNC, and NP?  Does everyone outside LLL
*really* understand what it does and doesn't do?  What *is* a CLC?  A CLE?
And so on.)  Some kind of coding system in the directory to add *more* than
just the initials would be really fun.

How about this:
    e-mail address, so we can "chat" with the other person beforehand
    year in which each title was obtained, including "unofficial" initials
like LLL, but with a key, of course
    further initials indicating current place of practice
      N - NICU
      H - hospital
      B - birth center
      P - pediatric office
      C - breastfeeding clinic
      OB - obstetric office
      PP - private practice

Instead or in addition, we could note age with which we have the most
experience - NICU, neo, post-discharge (post-d)

OOH!  I can see myself cruising the directory for kicks, just to look up old
and new friends :-)
