A contact of mine lost her 5 month old son to SIDS two days ago.
She has been exclusively breastfeeding and therefore has an abundant
milk supply. She has decided she would like to donate her expressed
breastmilk, either to a milk bank, or for breastmilk research. She is
aware that she will probably have to be screened for HIV, Hep B and C,
and probably CMV.
I cannot imagine the grief that she must be enduring right now.
Perhaps in some small way, helping somebody else may be what she needs
to get through this period.
Are any lactnetters aware of any resource that may be looking
for human milk? There is nothing available locally, or in Ontario that
I am aware of. I am uncertain of customs regulations regarding human
milk, so Canadian sources may be easier for her to access than others.
If anybody has any information that may help this lady, please
E-Mail me privately at Barb.Whelan@ Onlinesys.com
I appreciate any help anybody may be able to offer.
        Thanks in advance.
