There's a mother (turning 39 this fall) in my LLL group who has a 6-month
old conceived through IVF. She wants to have a second child and the
specialists are telling her she has to wean before starting the hormonal
treatment cycles in September. I believe they use pergonal and all sorts
of other drugs/hormones that stimulate intense egg production. I told her
she might want to consider waiting until November when her son will be
1-year, so he could at least have the benefits of that much breastfeeding;
that's only 2 months after the time they were going to initiate treatment
anyway. My question is, does anyone know about the various drugs for IVF
and if weaning is really absolutely necessary because of the hormones
involved?
