I'm well behind on posts so please skip this one if the same sentiment has
been expressed. I noted an email discussing a haemorrhage which may cause
Sheehan's syndrome followed by lactation failure.
There are exceptions to every rule though ... a mother in my district
recently haemorrhaged so significantly after birth that she was intubated
in intensive care for several days and was not expected to live is today
meeting every ounce of her baby's needs at the breast. What did I learn
from this? - never, say never!
And case study of one, though I'm sure I'm not unique - after each of my 3
babies I haemorrhaged significantly enough that I couldn't sit up without
fainting for the first 12 hours or so, and camouflaged beautifully with the
white sheets by day 3 - and then had to cope with oversupply, for months
and months.
Nothing is ever simple :-)
