Hi,
I am back to lactnet. Let me introduce myself again. I am a consultant and
nurse in the obstetics area of our hospital. I teach prenatal classes, work
in WIC/MSS, per diem in Special Care Nursery, teach postpartum classes,
breastfeeding rounds and "on call" by beeper for numerous questions as well
as being a mother of 2 teens and one preteen. I have not been able to
convince our administration for the need of a position for a lactation
consultant and outpatient services although I have tried for 5 years. I am
now thinking of doing some private consults thru my own business. Our
hospital pharmacy just stopped renting breast pumps and equipment which has
prompted my interest in also having a rental station. I am concerned about
"conflict of interest" as outline in the Consultant Standards although the
hospital refuses to offer this support. I would love anyone in this same
situation to e-mail me at [log in to unmask]
My other question is I am involved in rewriting and forming some new
policies and procedures. The one we are working on now is Supplemental
Nursing Systems. I would be interested in E-Mail about your procedure in
your hospitals. Although I think ours is pretty effective, I like to see the
standards in other areas.
Thanks and I hope to be a more active participant and less lurker!
