I am reading the postings back and forth regarding the CLE and IBCLC with
great interest.

My pervasive feelings are:

.....that the letters after someone's name does not guarantee that they will
give out excellent advice and support.......regardless of whether the letters
are CLE, CBE, LLLL, IBCLC or MD.

.....that there are many women well educated in regards to breastfeeding that
are choosing their young families over the clinical hours required to sit for
the exam to become an IBCLC.

.....that there is a real and present need for something inbetween the OB
nurse who has little to no knowledge of breastfeeding and the IBCLC. There
are not enough IBCLCs to fill all the shoes that would be left empty were
there no knowledgeable persons in the middle.

.....that anyone worth their salt knows their strengths and limitations , and
is confident in sharing the load to offer the help needed to breastfeeding
moms.

Just some musings from little ol' me.....who finds it interesting that the
local CBE certification classes are taught by an IBCLC. Isn't that quite
appropriate? :)
