I appreciate your comments about some moms wanting only to pump the ebm and
the psychology behind some of it. The mom I am working with emphatically
wants to directly bf, planned to do so for at least a year, joined LLL
prenatally, had her PNS pump already. Of course I will support her in
whatever her decision is. She knows this, but I cannot make that decision
for her. **This is a very difficult situation**. She is tired and frustrated
and sometimes angry w/ her baby for not bf - needs support so much, this is
a setup for abuse. (not saying she would do this, but you have to be aware).
She wonders how all of this is affecting her mothering. However, she would
feel such a great loss if she gives the ebm by bottle and could never
directly bf (ditto for the c/s). I don't know all the personal and family
dynamics going on. Husband wants her to bf b/c it saves money and she has
already spent the big bucks on the br. pump. (!). I wish I could just take
her home for a few days, this would probably help immensely.

I have often envisioned a home for bf mothers. Maybe I will open one. Kinda
like a bed and breakfast. Birth your baby and then come here for the first
few days. All the mommies in one big cozy room with lots of beds, fresh
flowers, and smells of good food cooking and served to you while you mother
your babies. And the bf helpers just lolling about helping a little here and
there - and tasting the soup.
