(2017). 2017 Guidelines of the American Thyroid Association for the Diagnosis and Management of Thyroid Disease During Pregnancy and the Postpartum. Thyroid, 27(3), 315-389. doi:10.1089/thy.2016.0457

One quote: "Therefore, it appears most reasonable to recommend evaluation of thyroid function in women who demonstrate poor lactation, with the goal of effectively returning any hypothyroid mother to a euthyroid state."

One thing that I will add is that a bovine study suggested that thyroid function needs to be controlled during pregnancy, and that treating only after delivery may not restore full lactation potential.
