I don't know how long ago you are referring when you say the 3 year course diploma nurse did not have college training. I  started training in 1957  at a diploma school graduating in 1960 and we spent half time of our first 9 months taking college classes. Anatomy, Micro biology english social studies pyschology  chemistry etc.
