I exculsively breastfed my children.  My 2 youngest had their first colds at
3 and 2 weeks old.  Yes it is possible for them to catch a cold, in my
opinion, because I watched mine go through it.  Since the baby you're dealing
with is 5 weeks old, consult a pediatrition.  May allow cold med.  Mine were
under a month old so I was told to raise the head of the bed, run a
humidifier and you saline nose drops to help break up the congestion.
