I have been an IBCLC since 1988. I have been a physician since  1976.  I 
practice medicine.  The breasts are organs in the human body  to be studied 
and treated as needed - just like any other organ.   There are several MDs who 
do ONLY breastfeeding medicine.  The ABM needs to  exist to show other MDs 
the importance of breastfeeding and human milk for  life-long health.
