Sounds to me like it's time to change docs. There are lots of good
pediatricians out there, and some pedis (or any other practitioner) are
good for some people and not for others. We work with our pediatricians
a lot over a long period of time, especially if we have more than one
child. It's worthwhile to find one we respect, who has similar
philosophy and approach as we do, and who answers our questions in ways
we understand and that make sense to us.

A rather defensive one, if you ask me.
