Just to add to the mammalian discussion.  There is a Manatee in Florida
(named Phoenix) at the Miami Seaquarium that could NOT get pregnant due to a
boating accident.  She was paired with a calf that lost its mother.

       Before too long Phoenix was producing milk for the calf.  This is the
first recorded "spontaneous lactation" case for a manatee.
