I have to send a quickie thank you to all who responded to my request for
info and advice on presenting the BFHI to our hospital administration.

Pam Morrison-  Your letter was beautiful and brought everyone down to the
proper perspective after reading about REAL baby friendly hospitals. I
enjoyed sharing your views with people who don't believe that the US is a
bottle feeding culture. No, you're not being simplistic. You are RIGHT!!!!!

Mary Broadfoot-  My neonatologist friend tells me that some of the best
studies come from Scotland. I would love to have a copy of your research on
GI illness. if you can not attach the study to my e-mail please fax it to me

Marsha Walker-  I hadn't looked closely at the next Lact. Assoc. conference
in Boston. Now I will have to see if my brother in Quincey will let me stay
with him. I think everyone on Lactnet would be interested in hearing about
it. I know they constantly post info about conferences on NICU-NET and
Neonatal-Talk. Can we post upcoming educational events here too?

Yanet you came through with the URL site for the Kaiser study I've been
looking for. Right in time to present it to the big chiefs at our healthplan
system( who all ABM feed, and all believe that ABM and breastmilk are
similiar and interchangeable). It was my job today to walk into this meeting
with definative proof that breastfeeding has an impact on healthcare
dollars. Oh what a beautiful paper. If anyone needs the Kaiser Permanente's
study on Breastfeeding and health and proof of money savings-- run! don't

And finally to Cindy: I will send you a copy of all the correspondance I've
recieved. Please e-mail me a yes or no if your address is still the same as
listed in ILCA 1996 roster. Gulp.... my 13 y/o has not taught me how to
attach documents with my e-mails yet and she calls me a chicken!!!!
On a final note, the head of maternal child services said to the hospital
breastfeeding committee today that while we do more work on the BFHI
presentation maybe we can also come up with an immediate plan to begin to
limit our involvement with the ABM reps! Onward we go!!!!!
