Re: << what i would love to glean from this list is how others of you help
moms with
2 babies (or more) to lie down and nurse? since i have been nursing 2 for
over 2 years now, i get many of the moms of multiples to follow up with. i
have
found what works for me, but of course i have 2 babies of very different
sizes. >>

Mothers of Multiples' (MOMs')ability to BF in bed and co-sleep seems to be
very individual. I think it probably relates to mother-babies physical "fit" --
not as easily accomplished with two (occasionally more -- the co-sleeping/not
BF) at once as with one who can mold somewhere to mom's bod! Some do it from
the get-go through weaning, some never accomplish it and play "musical beds" (I
was one of those), some MOM do it initially and then find it doesn't work
later, and some can't do it initially but it works later. Many who accomplish it
still complain/find it difficult to get much sleep. That sleep "synchrony'" or
mutuality often is not there with two (or more) infant sleep cycles
occurring. The variation in MOM who BF more than one lying down is not necessarily
related to maternal experience with "in-bed BF" or co-sleeping, as many
experienced moms have difficulty or find it incredibly different with multiples. This is
a frequent topic on the yahoo groups' APMultiples list. (Actually, I just saw
Dr. McKenna and [again] asked if someone wouldn't love to do some
mother-multiples sleep research!)
