I work for a Visiting Nurses Association associated with a local hospital. They give each Breastfeeding mother an Ameda pump. They are a very efficient hand pump. It is a little tricky to disassemble the handle from the piston until you get used to it. Patients used to break the top of the piston until we made a point of having the nurses teach mothers to assemble and clean the pumps. Patients with carpal tunnel tunnel syndrome do complain that it gets uncomfortable with repeated use. When I haved used the pump several times in one day, I do find that my hand does get tired unless I switch the position of the handle, which is very easy to do. Someone posted RE/ the Isis pump, that is made by Avent. I usually just lurk, but hope you find this info useful, I learn so much from Lactnet and I'm so grateful for all of you. Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!
