Hi,

I am Kika, family doc from Spain. I have been out of touch for some
months and I have to say I have missed Lactnet!!!
The first thing I wanted to proudly say is that I passed the exam and I
am now a humble IBCLC with a LOT to learn.

Secondly I wanted to post a question. There are only 8 of us IBCLC here
in Spain, because lactation is just beginning to bloom and no one has
heard of this title. Last week there was a GREAT Kangaroo Mother Care
symposium organized by LLL in Bilbao (Spain) and a few of us IBCLCs had
a chance to meet. We thought about the possibility of getting organized
as a group (Association of Spanish IBCLCs or something like that) so we
could reach out and start letting other professionals and institutions
know that we exist, and that there is a professional standard for
breastfeeding knwoledge and practice. It would also be a way to interact
with local administrations to raise funds for example to organize
breastfeeding promotion acts, lactation courses for professionals
(sorely needed!!!) and so on.
I wanted to know if any of you have experience doing this, if you think
it is useful, if you think it is necessary or not necessary at all...

Thanks for the input.

Kika
