We have recently had a resurgence of our OB's recommending Depoprovera prior to discharge post birth to our clients. I am looking for an informational handout to give to the mothers, after getting it approved by the OBs. Something that explains the pros and cons, or what to consider. Does anyone have such a handout? I found this one so far, but it's more for our OBs than for the patient. I did give the OBs this information, but they were unswayed: http://obgyn.med.umich.edu/sites/obgyn.med.umich.edu/files/brfdg_depo_clin_resource.pdf

The OB's tell me they have had an increase in mothers getting pregnant shortly after their previous birth and are looking for any way they can help this to NOT happen... obviously their clients are not exclusively breastfeeding, which is no surprise given our 80-100% supplementation rate.

The ABM website still lists: Contraception and Breastfeeding as expired and under review...

Thank you for your assistance,

Donna
