I am assisting a mother who is breastfeeding a six week old infant who is
Active Military. She will be deployed to the Mid-East in August for over 3
months. She will start Anthrax immunization series soon, which is an 18
month process, according to the Mother. The Smallpox immunization will be
started when she arrives overseas, as the military doesn't want her wound
to come in contact in any way with her baby. The Mother is going to pump
while overseas in anticipation of her reunion with her son, who will
hopefully return to the breast. Are these immunizations safe? Does anyone
have any information regarding transfer into breastmilk?
