My dh is an engineer. As is his father, who is a mechanical engineer
and is 73 yrs young, working everyday (and has the most fantastic
bromeliad garden throughout his entire back yard. He works outside
everyday and wins tons of grand prizes with his bromeliads!). Tim (dh)
studied mechanical and welding engineering at Ohio State University and
graduated in 1979. We lived in Kansas City, Mo for nearly 10 years where
he worked for Bendix (Allied Signal now). He now works with his father
in the concrete pipe business, in the Florida heat, where he manages the
production of the pipe in sweltering heat, (BIG switch!) and has done so
for the past 11 1/2 years. He was a breastfed baby, the ONLY one in the
hospital who was nursed! His mother likes to tell me how all of the
women in town were so proud of her for feeding her baby * the way a baby
should be fed*! He is very supportive of nursing and has always told his
coworkers that they could call me anytime for support or help. Never
once did he feel left out because he didn't feed the babies. He knew he
had lots to offer in other ways.

Our son is also becoming quite the advocate (13 yrs). He told a car
load of his friends (they saw a city bus with a large HOOTERS sign on
it) that *breasts are REALLY for breastfeeding, although they can
sometimes be nice to look at! No one giggled, all the boys had been
breastfed! They all agreed that was the MAIN purpose of breasts. I was
smiling and feeling good that day!

P.S. WBW is coming to a close, fashion show for nursing moms and
drawings for gifts tomorrow. I am tired!! Raised 150.00 dollars to
help with pump rentals for moms in need at our bake sale. Was seriously
disappointed that more staff did not participate in the bake sale. If
it doesn't directly affect them.....
