Dear Lactnetters,

Have enjoyed getting 'caught up" on all the wonderful messages over the
holidays.

Thank you to the LC in Glendora CA (Julia F.)on November 18th who assisted
my wonderful niece while she was in hospital there (sorry don't know the
hospital, so everyone can take credit). Evidently my niece made delightful
waves for the staff of one hospital (who my sis says "never see normal
labor anymore" so they stayed post shift) by delivering minus pain meds and
epidural!

My great-niece is nursing well--is a smart, breast-crawling baby who had
some difficulty with a flat nipple and a bit of engorgement which were
relieved with a telephone consult to Aunt Linda and a shield.

Know that all of you who post to Lactnet helped on this project.

As for the interesting comments, was privy to a conversation between two of
our wonderful RN breastfeeding advocates at our hospital today. This may
not be new to you folks, but was to me, so thought I'd share...one said "I
don't think babies get "nipple confusion". What they get
is "opinionated". They are too smart to be confused". The other replied
that "I think only the mother gets nipple confused..."

Many thanks to all, once again,

Linda M. Duce, RN,CNM Austin, TX (who loves being a great-aunt-- like being
a grandmother without quite so much of the worry)
