You're so ruight, Nancy, and it could even happen to the baby's legal/birth mother. Does she know what het spouse does?
There is no such  a thing as a life without risks. Every person has to calculate risks and decide upon clear, if possible evidence based, information what risks are acceptable and how risks can be made as low as possible. The risks of being fed a nonhuman milk are many and well-described, both for lacking substances as for chemically non-fitting substances as for contamination in the powder or by preparing; those of feeding human milk are less and less certain and in many cases more manageable.

Warmly,
Gonneke, IBCLC, LLLL, MOM in southern Netherlands

I haven't seen anyone say this, and I hesitate to be a naysayer, but how
does one know what the partner of any woman is doing?
What I mean is, you can totally trust your sister' or best friend's
health
and lifestyle, for example, and not know if her partner frequents (male or
female) prostitutes or uses drugs. Trust me, it happens to the nicest
people.
