I have been asked to help tape a show for radio which will focus on
breastfeeding. I know that some of the content will cover the
following questions:
1. What are the special concerns and needs of breastfeeding moms who
are returning to work?
2. What can corporate America do to encourage breastfeeding by its
employees?
3. What is the most important message to get across to men in our
society about breastfeeding?

I don't know how much time I will have to answer any one
question/topic, so I am trying to make sure that I hit the most
important pieces first for each question. I must admit that I am
nervous and am trying to organize my thoughts in advance. I would
appreciate
the thoughts that Lactnetters may have on these questions. Thanks.

Dear Peg,

As a male student LC, I can tell you what made me supportive of BFing:
the health benefit to both mother and child. I would suggest telling men
three things: first, that BFed kids are healthier and smarter, second, that
women who BF have lower rates of breast and cervical cancer, and third,
that our wives NEED our support to have good BFing experiences. I
would bring a good set of refs. for both, but would only flash them if
challenged. I'd suggest the refs. on Kathy D's, J Rachel Hamlin's, and
Jon Ahrenson's www pages. The URL's are:
