Re Methadone:
We have several mothers who deliver at our unit on the methadone program- it
has never been an issue as to whether or not they should breastfeed, if they
do, the baby will experience less withdrawals. We leave it up to the mothers
and most choose to breastfeed.
It has been found that these mums have an increased Methadone requirement
whilst pregnant.
