Last year I helped a mother breastfeed after she survived HELLP syndrome.
She almost died in intensive care in the days following the birth, but
recovered slowly and completely. I know of no contraindications to
breastfeeding once the mother is on the road to recovery and feels like
putting her baby to the breast. It took a while to get breastfeeding going,
and some supplementing as her milk supply increased as she recovered, but it
did. Her baby is now a year old and still nursing. She is loving
breastfeeding as this may be their only child as she is afraid of another
pregnancy.

Can anyone tell me the risk of a repeat of HELLP with suceeding pregnancies?
Thanks,
