Can anyone think of any

LuAnn,

other than any unnecessary mom-baby separation, which might be to some extent
decreased with the home setting methods you mention, and in keeping with
"outside the box" thinking; my recollection is that Jack Newman has written here
on LN about some measure of bilirubin being protective/antioxident, and that
babies fed ABM who do not achieve this physiological level of bilirubin should
be fed breastmilk until their bili levels reach the physiological norm, ...the
norm being somewhere within the range that well breastfed babies typically
achieve.

For a better explanation best to check the archives.

Even so, still need to factor in the premie, sluggish feeding, etc issues.
