[how do we make sure that correct breastfeeding definitions are used in this New Zealand prospective study - so that we actually end up with some useful and meaningful research down the road? Anyone up to contacting this researcher or the university?

(partial quote)

Information to be gathered included numbers of doctor's visits, chest and ear infections, the use of paracetamol and antibiotics, and duration of breastfeeding.

Associate Professor Douwes said the information could go some way to solving some other surprising findings from previous research. One was about the possible link with paracetamol - whether it reduced protection or was simply more often used where children already had asthma or allergies. Another was about breastfeeding, which despite proven health benefits, was linked in an Otago study to increased asthma and allergy rates.

(see link for full article - that's the complete mention of breastfeeding)
