Regarding women's reluctance to double pump

I'm feeling a bit naive but here goes:

Does double pumping mean pumping from both breasts at the same with a double
pump?

If so, maybe I can offer some perspective on why women are less likely to do
it.

I work with a healthy, educated, motivated population whose members generally
inform themselves and take responsibility for their birth choices. I see very
few breastfeeding problems. My clients usually stay home with their nurslings
or take them along to work. Thus, my clients have little need for pumps.

With that in mind, here is what I think.

Double pumping seems like a big deal; it is intimidating and requires special
equipment. Single pumping mimics hand expression and seems like less of an
intervention. Double pumps require both breasts to "hang out" at the same
time. A single pump allows for some cover up. With a single pump, a woman can
keep a hand on the breast and one on the pump or available for it. How does
one function with two breasts in two pumps? The thought of having two of those
horns on my breasts gives me the shivers. What if one slips and needs
readjustment? Or if both slip and pinch? Youch.

The need for a double pump comes to mind for me in special cases where a mom
must return to work and has little time to pump and feels comfortable with the
double pump.

I realize that my clientele probably does not reflect the "mainstream"
population. I just wish to offer some feedback as to why some women might be
reluctant to use a double pump. Perhaps there are many instances for which
double pumping is suitable that I have yet to come across.

Sincerely,
