I understood that Lactaid was designed to be added to milk and left in the
fridge for several hours or overnight to digest the lactose before the milk
was consumed. I also thought that if ingested directly, that it would be
broken down in the stomach and have no effect. Am I totally off the mark
here? Perhaps someone with more knowledge and experience using Lactaid than
I would like to comment on the best way of using the product. I get the
impression that it is often recommended for gassy, colicky babies, who are
diagnosed as lactose intolerant, but are really just getting too much milk,
too fast ("oversupply colic"). This is what I posted about a couple of days
ago.
