Below is a letter I wrote to them.
Jennifer Tow, IBCLC, CT, USA

Today I logged onto your site for the first time and as the homepage was
loading, the
first image I was treated to was a picture of a smiling mother artificially
feeding her
baby. The banner was promoting Similac's "Welcome Addition Club". Juxtaposed
just
to the left were the words "healthAtoZ.com".
Nowhere in the A to Z's of good health will you find artificial feeding
of human
infants. On the contrary, only breastfeeding can meet the nutritional
requirements of the
human brain, nervous, immune and digestive systems. The American Academy of
Pediatrics Guidelines (rev 1997) state that infants should receive only
mother's milk for
the first half year of life with complementary solid foods added as
appropriate in the
second half year. Breastfeeding should continue for a *minimum* of one year
and for
as long as is mutually acceptable to the mother and baby thereafter.
Artificial feeding is not an alternative to nor a replacement for
breastfeeding. It is an
inferior feeding method which places both the mother and child at severe risk
of a litany
of acute and chronic medical conditions. Further, artificial feeding is
solely a feeding
method, providing for none of the emotional security or attachment essential
to healthy
human development.
As a commercial site, it is understandable that you would make decisions
based
upon their financial implications, however as a site geared toward promoting
good
health, the placement of this banner is unconscionable.
