Heather, Pam, and lactpals,

Pamela writes: < 'Could it be that the mother's storage capacity gradually
increases over time with the result that the infrequently breastfeeding older
baby or toddler (or even Laurie's 4 year old) can still obtain the a large
volume of milk in spite of fewer emptying episodes?'>

Do you think that as baby grows up there is a build up of the negative
pressure/suck which make the breasts work differently compared to those early
days and weeks? As the child's mouth gets larger and those mouth/tongue
muscles get stronger this might make things change.

Do you think there is a difference in the mother who is tandem feeding a much
older child alongside a newborn - does her production/storage capacity stay or
does it revert back to earlier state when new baby arrives? Just a few more
ideas to put in the melting pot.
