<The more misinformation a mother <receives from HCP's who are perceived <as

Jennifer, I couldn't agree with you more. That is why our home visit nurses
have to be either IBCLC or CBE, and we have a two hour meeting every month
to review all these concepts. I can tell you lots of stories of this very
thing happening. Just last week, a mom insisted her baby needed to be
offered water several times per day, as her pediatrician recommended. If
the hv nurse isn't educated in breastfeeding, she wouldn't be able to offer
the correct information. Unfortunately, I have "been in trouble" many
times, with physicians complaining about the "mis-information" we are
providing. That is why if LC's base their practices on good EVIDENCE, we
can pose a legitimate argument. Physicians respect good research, and that
is the common thread. Guess I got a little off track there, but I think
Jennifer has an excellent point; people take information from hcp's as
sacrosanct. But who monitors whether the information is correct?
