Hi,
Has anyone come across the drug Iloprost, chemical name Iupac? It is
carbacyclin analogue of prostacyclin (PGI2). I have no idea what that
means, it comes from the hazard data sheet.
The mother had a caesarian today to deliver her 32 week baby. Mother has
severe pulmonary hypertension, hence the early delivery. Mum will be
ventilated for 3 days and start this drug. I have been told it is very
toxic, and certainly the data sheet looks alarming.
The half-life is 15-30 minutes so we can presumably time the
expressing/feeding if all else is O.K.
She has been told not to breastfeed because of this drug. Yes, I know,
why not give another one!
I have looked in Hale and the archives but found nothing.
Thanks,
