Doing the ferritin at this age is likely to be unhelpful.  The ferritin is
likely to be normal, because what the ferritin measures is iron stores.
Unless the baby was having massive bleeding, unlikely from the scenario, his
iron stores would be normal.

Now this is an interesting answer, if, as in some cases, the baby is having
blood from irritation from rapid gastric emptying and lactose malabsorption.
Iron being constipating actually might help.
