Lactnetters,
I am interested in the effects epidurals during labor have on breastfeeding.
Epidurals are frequently given to women who request them without any
informed information on the effect it may have on the baby's suck and
ultimately the breastfeeding experience. New mothers are nervous enough
about "trying" to breastfeed their newborn without adding another problem.
Has much research been done in this area? What are the results? Where can I
find reliable documentation to present to the OBs and Family Practice
physicians?
