Mom might try to express both breasts once as complete as possible, then nurse her child from both sides as well, then start blockfeeding for stretches of 3-4 hours (not longer since she's had mastitis already). No pumping for relieve, as that will promote extra production. If this does not work enough mom might start on sagetea. Caution though: use very hesitantly, because sage is a powerfull lactationsuppressor. Sagetea is made with a coffespoon of dried sage (perhaps a bit of peppermint added for taste and extra strength) on half a liter (is that about 3 cups?) of boiling water, let sit for 5 minutes, then strain. Start with one cup of this and see what it does. If production slows, stop or minimise, if no effect turns out that day, drink another cup. Moms with normal production may loose all when drinking 3 cups a day for some days.
