Dear Lactnetters,
I have a mom that saw her pediatrician for cold sores. Baby is two years old continues to breastfeed. Physician told her she could use carmex on the outer lip but nothing on the inside of the mouth. mom also got a cold sore on her areola.
it has crusted over. I have not been able to find information regarding treatment. This is the type as cold sores. Baby had a fever for 5 days prior to the break out. I told her she could put breastmilk on the area for the antibodies and it may be more soothing. I also told mom she could apply the breastmilk on her area as well for the healing. Any other ideas out there? I would appreciate any and all.
