I had a strange experience during chemo and radiation, which was that they
would test my white blood cells count to see if my immune system was
crashing, and the white blood cell counts were always "within limits".  So
they would then ignore the obvious clinical signs that my immune system had
in fact crashed.

Yet more examples of how "medicine-by-number" does not work, not for
lactation, not for lots of things.
