I am sure that many of you are aware of the emergency in Bangladesh. I the aftermath of cyclone Sidr making sure that babies and mothers are protected by protecting breastfeeding is so very important. I'd like to ask people to keep an eye open for news reports that describe the distribution of milk powder or infant formula or anything that mentions breastfeeding and email me if you see anything. Those of you who donate to aid agencies might like to take the opportunity to ask the aid agencies to whom you donate what they are doing and what their policy is on infant feeding in emergencies (an example call sheet is contained with the document at http://www.ennonline.net/ife/generalpublic/default.aspx). I found the below article this morning, rather concerning.
Please feel free to pass this email on elsewhere. The more people working on this the better!

At the same time, CARE, World Vision and scores of other NGOs and voluntary organisations have begun distributing rice, clothes, blankets, medicine, drinking water, baby food and other essentials to those affected.
