Hi Netters,

I will take you back to the study Jan Barger and I did "A Comparison of the
Bacterial Composition of Breast Milk Stored at Room Temperature and Stored in
the Refrigerator". Some of the cultures I had in the refrigerator had higher
bacterial levels than those at room temp. I would conclude one could have
milk stored at room temp. for several hrs. and still refrigerate or freeze
the milk and use the usual CSF guidelines. (that is for normal newborns) It
is very important to stress the importance of washing hands well before
collection of milk. There is presently no research done on this. If only I
could break away from this mess in my office, I would love to begin doing
studies on CSF that I have been wanting to do for years. Hopefully soon.
Please e-mail me Netters, on important factors you would like to see be
included in the study.
