Hi, All: I tried a quick archives search and did not come up with any
hits, but I'm sure there's something somewhere on infant weight loss
perecentages in the first few days. Many of our peds have become so hung
up on the numbers they are forgetting that weight loss is only one piece of
the picture when assessing fdgs in the first few days. One of our peds
insists on supplementation if weight loss approaches 7%, most others will
insist on supplementation at 10%, even when baby's overall assessment is
fine. And of course, they are ordering formula supplements, as mom sits in
front of them dripping milk. Our nursery manager has asked me to come up
with some evidence-based literature.
Can anyone help with a speedy point in the right direction?
Thanks.
