It seems to me that this information is in R. Lawrence 94 and 99 editions,
that breastmilk/colostrum is not irritating to the bronchial tree if
aspirated. I recall a recent patient who was fed bottles in the nursery at
mom's request overnight and began having retractions and grunting in the AM.
Baby was admitted to the SCN under oxygen due to O2 saturations less than 90.
Theory is that "she must have aspirated." Very scary. Wish I could have said
something to this mom about WHY this happened but said it to the
neonatologist instead! This needs to be part of an informed consent.
